The application
How the Hotchkiss application works.
Four steps, one online application, and one date that matters most.
- Steps
- The checklist has four steps: complete an Admission Inquiry Form, schedule an interview, take a standardized test, and complete the application.
- Before the interview
- Families complete the Admission Inquiry Form before they can schedule an interview.
- Platform
- Hotchkiss uses the Gateway to Prep Schools online application. Its sections are Candidate Profile, Candidate Project, Parent Statement, School Record and Teacher Recommendations.
- Essays
- The application includes candidate essays, which students complete in the Candidate Project section.
- Parent statement
- The application includes a parent statement.
- Recommendations
- Recommendations include a principal or counselor form, English and math teacher forms, and a personal recommendation from an adult who knows the student well.
- Application fee
- The application fee is $75, paid online. Families can contact the office to ask for a fee waiver.
- Deadline
- The application deadline is January 15, 2027.
- Decisions
- Admission decisions are available online and mailed on March 10, 2027.
